That is a beautiful beach. I great place to soak up the sun, but after reading about the underwater shark nets I am not sure I would do any swimming their.

The Sea Sculputre looks like one the Transformers Autobots.

Ok, first Diane, now you… so no need to rub it in. Though I’ve never understood why everyone goes on about Bondi when I reckon there are much nicer beachy places in the Sydney area.

But I miss it. And there’s a cafe that does awesome french toast. And not too far away, ‘Laurie’s Vegetarian Takeaway’….not owned by me though.

Sculpture By The Sea is a wonderful concept – ours is at Cottesloe Beach annually and i get some beautiful shots around sunset.

I hope you have not spoken too soon? Coffs Harbour (Nothern NSW for the non-locals) got more rain in one hour this week than we had in 6 months – OF WINTER! Ballina has, in 3 separate days to my certain knowledge, received more rain than Perth gets in a GOOD year of rainfall 8-|

Hope Sydney stays a wee bit dryer though!

Haha – virtually any beach in Australia has a possibility of sharks Ed….except the one's further north where it's all deadly jelly fish and crocodiles.

That's why we're all so tough. Or rather, why we have such a good surf-life saving culture :)

As for the Transformer…that wasn't officially part of the Sculpture By The Sea exhibition, but was impressive nonetheless

Considering it was meant to be quite cold (for spring) and overcast, this was a pleasant surprise.

Except for Diane ending up extremely sunburnt. She doesn't get on with the sun…

There are much nicer beaches in Sydney for sure. Like Bronte just around the corner for one. But I like the northern beaches too (which also tend to be a bit quieter)

I think Bondi will remain popular while they have such good places to eat though…as you quite correctly pointed out Laura; it's the only reason we really head over there. Or for artsy things like Sculpture By The Sea.

There you go mentioning Cottesloe again love…. :D

So far we've managed to miss all the northern NSW coast rain and we're staying pretty much on track for our averages. Even this has been rare for a lot of places though…both Brisbane & Melbourne have had way below average rainfall in recent years. Both Ballina and Coffs Harbour are pretty wet places at the best of times though…sub-tropical and all that. Hence the excellent Coffs Coast bananas I guess!

I wonder if I'm going to do my usual trick of taking the sun with me when I travel overseas. Seriously, every time I've been to the UK/Ireland there's extended periods of unusual sunny weather.

Maybe I'm the reason Australia is always in drought??

Just saying…prepare for possibly water shortages in 2010
