That's funny you say Sanctus Real almost made it semi big. They are more popular down here than a lot of Christian bands that have made it "big big". You missed out on popularity in a market smaller than California - haha :)

I totally agree on the URL thing. I've got it now, which means I can use it to shape the web space, rather than all the other David Goodwin's out there using it ... even if they are in ministry like a lot seem to be.

Sweet japanese record company!
Just kidding. I actually thought at one point I would retire a rocker...actually almost joined a Christian band that hit it semi big (sanctus real).

Anyway, I am of the persuasion that a url is noteworthy via it's content. That is; you can work shapingthespace just like you can davidgoodwin.com. But, I bet Jesus would prefer jesuschrist.com over satan.com. All that to say, besides extreme cases, rarely does the url mean more to the public than it does to the owner.

You've got some really great points in there Lori. I might have to think about how I use this newly acquired name a bit more carefully!

I use my name at the request of our ministry - my blog is connected to the church's site. Soooo - I started blogging at the request of one of my pastors, otherwise, I would have never thought about it! ha ha

It has proven to be invaluable to me in connecting with other leaders across the world! Because they think I am a decent writer (got them fooled!), they have invited me to review, write and comment on any number of ministry related items. For this I am very thankful because our ministry is located in central Ohio - small city - low income! The ability to connect takes me places the Lord probably will never take me physically.

I think God probably enjoys our efforts to connect with one another and honors our interest and efforts to spread the gospel through any means we feeble humans can think of. So, although I use my name - I have no high position, or high education, or anything on this earth that would give me a reason to think anyone would give a rip that it's me - Lori! ha ha WHO???

Don't know if Jesus would have any use for bloggin, etc., but I know He says to GO - and if helps my GO I think He'd be for it!

is there not an engrish transration page of dg4g.com? Why on earth would you have a domain name in characters you never use yourself???

As for Jesus Blogging or purchasing His Domain name(s)?....hmmmm??

(This is before he's been crucified - right? Not the Second Coming we're gabbing about?)

i think it would be a matter for His Father to determine since He (J) always does His Will.

Personally i don't think either of them would be that interested since such a bunch of stuck-up tossers use the internet to communicate messages to other stuck up tossers who own laptops, blackberry's and i-phones - no? ;-)

i think they'd still be 'keeping it REAL' and getting down and dirty in da 'hood - or going to the 'top' and telling those in power how it is going to be.

I don't think you can do either very effectively via e-mail or yourdomainname.com

Ok - i have just shot myself in the foot, haven't i? ;-)

I, of course, left out the obvious idea of pointing your name domain to another one. I cannot disagree with any of the above :D.

I like long stories Toby (and that didn't qualify, just so ya know...you've seen the length of some of my 'brief' responses on Tam's blog - haha)

I agree with you on the blog principle. Not that I don't read plenty of blogs where the URL is the owner's name, but I like it when it gives a little insight into what it's all about.

However, as a personal identity card, I'm thinking it could be worth it. After all, there's a kajillion David Goodwin's out there, and I'd quite like to be the one shaping the davidgoodwin.com space. Not for fame and fortune (though bring it on if that's the way God has ordained for me to make an impact in His Kingdom), just so that when people search that name, they find something honouring God.

Side note: the number of people with my name who are in ministry is fascinating...to me...

Kinda like Carlos & many others have done with their realnameURL sites. A web based ID card ... but which leads you to other places that do tell you more of what I'm about.

"He was King of using others to make himself known."

Very true.

So, in that case, do you think John the Baptist might have wanted to get his hands on those domains?
