In a very short amount of time, I’ve made a lot of new friends thanks to my newfound passion for blogging and various other social networking interwebby stuffs (it’s not an addiction, ok…no really, it’s NOT…I could give this up any time…I mean stop visiting blogs, etc anytime).
All of this started (or I should say restarted, since the whole social networking thing is really how Diane and I met in the first place WAY back at the turn of the century). Anyway, it restarted due to a desire to connect with other worship leaders from around the world. In the last week of November. 2008. Yes, 15 weeks ago. Since then I’ve started blogging, twittering, Facebooking (a bit) and updating MySpace more regularly – to keep da kids happy…
But it all started on Worship The Rock…
And I’m not just a member…I’m also an administrator. I told you this stuff happened fast.
So if you haven’t already, come on over and check out a great site.
It’s been growing pretty quickly (at just on 3000 members, it’s nearly doubled since I joined), and the other day I got to do my first bit of serious administrating (?) when I shut down a discussion which was heading somewhere we didn’t want it to go. See, it’s not all about freedom of speech, it’s also about providing a safe place for people of all ages (there’s lots of teens and some pre-teens) to come, learn and grow in their faith in God and their worship skills. There’s no suggestion that bigger issues can’t be tackled, and there’s certainly some interesting discussions that can get a bit intense. Just as long as the primary purpose of the site – unity through worship of the only true God – is always at the heart of what’s going on.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering how a crazy Aussie got onto the admin team – it was partly because of my ability to see the lighter side of things. So being crazy helps.
Now tell me your (brief) story. How long have you been blogging (or stalking – like I used to do a bit)? How about Twitter? Or Facebook? Or…?

I joined myspace a few years ago & ended up losing my BFF of 20 years over some drama. Up front I'll say, it was my fault. I hurt her inadvertantly. I decided to close down myspace & journal via a blog instead.
You see I have horrible handwriting & a blog seemed like a good alternative. Well it grew & I started to love the community of people. Screwed up people just like me who could help me through stuff…AND…I could help them. (please don't ask anyone if I've actually helped the…it'd ruin my excuse for being on the puter so much) It's been going for about 18 months. I don't have a lot of traffic, but it's a fun outlet for me.
Now Twitter is a diff. story. I love it. The connections w/ people are sometimes the down & dirty stuff that people don't always put on their blogs. My dry humor? Some of you all get it. It's been a great prayer chain too. Within minutes I can have 20+ people praying for me. Love it!
